Quality Wines

These are wines made from grapes, grape juice or grape must harvested in wine regions of the Czech Republic that reached a minimum of 15° of sugar content. Quality wine is usually marked (together with basic indications) by a name of a vine region in which grapes were harvested.

Quality Varietal Wine:

Wine containing a minimum of 85% of the variety referenced on the etiquette. Quality Brand Wine: Wine produced from a blend of quality varietal wines.

Sparkling Wine:

Wine with a content of a carbone dioxide. CO2 is produced during fermentation when sugar is turning into alcohol and the carbon dioxide. During the production of other wines the carbon dioxide escapes freely. During the production of sparkling wines this is avoided by secondary fermenting in a closed bottle. Another way is to produce sparkling wines in a closed vat. Quality Wine with Special Attributes: Wine produces from grapes, grape juice or grape must of a single variety stated for a wine region by the State Agricultural & Food Inspectorate SZPI. A minimum must content of a variety referenced on the etiquette is 85%. Quality wine with special attributes is also marked with a name of the attribute, name of a wine region, name of a municipality, and a year of the harvest.

Kabinet Wine:

Made from grapes with a minimum of 19° of a sugar content.

Late Harvest: Made from grapes with a minimum of 21° of a sugar content.

Special selection of Grapes: Made from grapes with a minimum of 24° of a sugar content.

Special Selection of Berries: Made from grapes with a minimum of 27° of a sugar content.

Ice Wine:

Wine made from grapes harvested at the highest temperature of –6°C. During the harvest and processing the grapes remain frozen and have a minimum of 27° of a sugar content.

Straw Wine:

Wine made from grapes dried over a period of at least three months on straw or rattan beds, or have been hanged in well ventilated rooms before being processed. Produced juice has to reach a minimum of 27° of a sugar content.
